A tiki recipe with the surprising addition of Jägermeister — but it works, says Frederic Yarm of Loyal Nine in Cambridge, Mass. "The Lost U-Boat is a tiki drink inspired by the Jet Pilot and how well elderflower liqueur pairs with dark herbal liqueurs, and it refers back to the beginnings of the Tiki craze after soldiers returned back from World War II," Yarm explains. "Jagermeister, while not usually associated with tropical drinks, brings in some great tiki spices like star anise, cinnamon, clove, and ginger into the equation."
- 2 ounces Plantation Dark Rum
- 1⁄2 ounce lime juice
- 1⁄2 ounce grapefruit juice
- 1⁄2 ounce Jagermeister
- 1⁄2 ounce elderflower liqueur, such as St-Germain
- 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
- 4 drops orange blossom water
Shake with ice, strain into a tiki mug, fill with crushed ice, and garnish with mint sprigs.
