Martin Cate is a rum expert who's been spreading the tiki gospel since opening San Francisco's infamous Smuggler's Cove in 2009. Now, he's penned his own magnum opus of tropical cocktails, hitting shelves this coming June. Until then, slake your thirst with this refreshing guava libation straight from the pages of Cate's new book:

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Bundaberg guava soda
  • 34 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 34 ounce Licor 43
  • 2 ounces Rhum Agricole Blanc, such as Rhum J.M Blanc or Neisson Blanc
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters

Directions

Add the guava soda to a Collins or highball glass, then add the remaining ingredients to a cocktail shaker with cracked or cubed ice. Shake and strain into the glass. Gently add cracked or cubed ice to fill the glass, then garnish with a mint sprig, cinnamon stick, and lime wheel.
