Tales of the Cocktail Announces Tales-Inspired Bitters by Bittered Sling

Bitters Pack

Vancouver-based Bittered Sling has created four custom flavors that celebrate the unique character of each Tales of the Cocktail® on Tour destination.

NEW ORLEANS - April 27, 2015 - Tales of the Cocktail® and Bittered Sling have come together to develop an exclusive bitters travel pack inspired by the communities and neighborhoods of Tales of the Cocktail’s destinations.

The official Tales of the Cocktail® Special Edition Travel Pack by Bittered Sling will feature Vancouver’s “Gastown”, Mexico City’s “Condesa”, Buenos Aires’ “Palermo” and New Orleans’ “French Quarter” bitters. The flavor profiles of these limited-edition bitters are meant to be both a collector’s pack and for use in creating cocktails with international flair. These limited-edition travel packs will be available exclusively onsite at Tales of the Cocktail® 2015.

“We’re excited to unveil these limited edition Tales of the Cocktail travel packs,” said Bittered Sling Bitters co-proprietor and internationally acclaimed bartender Lauren Mote. Bittered Sling co-proprietor and celebrated chef Jonathan Chovancek adds: “We’ve infused each of these bitters with the authentic spirit of each of the On Tour cities for which they’re named.”

The Gastown Bitters were inspired by the inaugural year of Tales on Tour® in Vancouver. With hints of celery, chamomile, green tea and jasmine, these bitters capture the Pacific Northwest flavors that reflect refreshing alpine herbaceous qualities and a diverse spice profile.

The Palermo Bitters were inspired by one of the most historic neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. These bitters have a smoky blend of cacao beans and husks, yerba maté, black pepper and rich red and black fruit, offering a balanced South American flavor profile.

The 2015 and 2016 home of Tales of the Cocktail® on Tour, Mexico City, inspired the Condesa Bitters. These intense bitters are rich in terroir, complexity and flavor, having been crafted from indigenous Mexican spices and ingredients like aromatic smoked chilies and epazote.

Finally, the French Quarter Bitters pay homage to the one-of-a-kind flavors of New Orleans, the permanent home of Tales of the Cocktail®. These aromatic, Creole-inspired bitters combine anise, lavender and cherry with American oak and chicory in a celebration of the New Orleans spirit.

“We are so excited to be partnering with Bittered Sling to bring the flavors of Tales of the Cocktail to life,” said Ann Tuennerman, Founder of Tales of the Cocktail®. “I hope everyone has a chance to taste the incredible flavors that Lauren and Jonathan have created.”

The Market at Tales and Bitter Market are located in the Hotel Monteleone and will be open throughout Tales of the Cocktail® 2015, being held in New Orleans from Wednesday, July 15 through Sunday, July 19. For more information about Tales of the Cocktail® or Bittered Sling, visit or
