NEW ORLEANS – July 10, 2016 – The New Orleans Culinary & Cultural Preservation Society (NOCCPS), the non-profit behind Tales of the Cocktail®, is proud to announce the 2016 BAR® Scholarship recipients. Leo Robitschek, Dean Hurst, Juyoung Kang, Joann Spiegel, Hannah Waters, Berit Jane Soli-Holt, Samuel David Gauthier, and Ciaran Wiese will all receive a scholarship valued at $4,450 for tuition and travel expenses to attend the 14th BAR® 5-Day Spirits & Mixology Certification Program in New York City.

“Everyone who attends Tales this year has a hand in being able to send these talented bartenders to the BAR program,” said Ann Tuennerman, Founder of Tales of the Cocktail and NOCCPS. “I’m just so thrilled that we can once again support our former CAPs.”

Founded and operated by six of the biggest names in mixology – Steve Olson, Dale DeGroff, Andy Seymour, Doug Frost, David Wondrich and F. Paul Pacult – the BAR® Program has become one of the most revered bartender training programs in the country. This special scholarship program is open to bartenders who have served as a Cocktail Apprentice Program (CAP®) at Tales of the Cocktail® in the past five years.

“The amount of opportunities, education and amazing mentors that the CAP team and the NOCCPS have afforded me over the last few years of working with them has been immeasurable,” Gauthier said. “I can’t express how much I appreciate the investment that’s been put into personal and professional growth.”

CAP® is an educational mentorship program providing bartenders with opportunities to gain experience alongside the biggest names in the business during Tales of the Cocktail®. Since 2008, over 250 apprentices have participated in this educational program. The BAR® Scholarship Program is one of several endeavors the NOCCPS provides to support and cultivate bartending education around the world. Tales of the Cocktail® also funds a Cocktail Apprentice Tuition Reimbursement Program for graduated CAPs seeking higher education. A Cocktail Apprentice enrolled in college, university, technical school courses or hospitality courses can be reimbursed up to $5,000 for textbooks and course fees.

“I am honored and humbled to be a 2016 BAR® Scholarship Recipient and look forward to participate in such an esteemed educational program,” Soli-Holt said. “I am grateful to the Tales of the Cocktail CAP® Program for making these kinds of opportunities to further my education possible. I can’t wait to face the challenge!”

Tales of the Cocktail® returns to New Orleans July 19 through July 24, 2016 with a schedule including hundreds of seminars, tasting rooms, competitions, networking events, and more. For more information about Tales of the Cocktail® 2016, visit
