Invitation to Apply for Support
Tales of the Cocktail Foundation is committed to distributing $250,000 in grants to support the industry and further the organization’s new mission and core values in 2018.
Through financial support and grantmaking programs like this opportunity, Tales of the Cocktail Foundation can change lives and the industry in the United States and abroad by supporting new and established programs that have the vision, determination, and ability to make meaningful change in the hospitality industry across a wide spectrum of diverse issues.
Who Should Apply:
The Foundation aims to support nascent or existing non-profit organizations and individuals who are developing a scope of work or specific project that will impact the hospitality community whether local, regional, national or international. Topical examples include projects furthering education, writing, sustainability, diversity, and healthcare in our industry. Grant submissions should not be solely for direct support of an individual’s personal needs, such as travel, medical or seminar fees.
The Foundation encourages wide participation from all members of the hospitality community who are committed to being leaders and changing lives in your community. We encourage you to propose projects that dream big, address pressing needs, and innovate to create change. All projects should align with the Foundation Mission and Pillars (see below).

Timeline and Deadlines
April 16, 2018 - Grant process and call for Letter of Intent to Request Support is announced
May 4, 2018 - Letters of Intent to Request Support are due at 5pm CST
May 12, 2018 - Full grant submission invitations are delivered
June 8, 2018 - Grant applications are due by 5pm CST
Phase I: Letter of Intent to Request Support
All members of the hospitality community who are committed to being leaders and changing lives in our community are encouraged to submit a Letter of Intent to Request Support to the Grants Advisory Committee.
Letters should provide an overview of the proposed project, objectives, timeline, personnel involved, plans for execution, overall budget and whether this project has financial support from other sources. If you wish to apply for a Grant, submitting a Letter of Intent is required so that the Committee can gauge industry interest and provide feedback to applicants to ensure a more successful and impactful process. We encourage all letters to address how the request for support aligns with the Foundation’s mission to Educate, Advance and Support the hospitality industry.
Please address your letter to the Grants Advisory Committee and submit as PDF file no later than May 4, 2018 at 5:00PM Central Standard Time via Email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Hard copies are not required.
Phase II: Invitation to Submit Full Grant Application
The individuals and organizations whose Letter of Intent to Request Support have aligned with the Foundation’s mission and general overview requirements will be invited to submit a full grant application. These grant applications are due on June 8, 2018 at 5pm CST.
Tales of the Cocktail Foundation will contact all grant recipients at the end of June regarding the status of their application. We encourage all applicants to attend Tales of the Cocktail in July, where we will announce the grant recipients at the State of the Trade event on July 17th, 2018.

Woven throughout our programs are professional networking and community building opportunities to better connect our diverse, global community. We accelerate the growth of the spirits industry through forward-thinking partnerships and mentorship programs, such as the Cocktail Apprentice Program, to develop the next generation of industry leaders.
We create lasting impact in the communities we serve through financial and promotional support programs geared to individuals, organizations and communities that define the history and future of the industry and in those cities that host our events. We provide direct resources in areas such as education, healthcare, addiction, sustainability and advancement of diversity. Through our support programs, the Foundation will support those who are the catalyst at the forefront of defining industry standards and of the advancement of our craft.
