Tales of the Cocktail® - July 17th to 22nd, 2018

This summer the worldwide cocktail community will descend on New Orleans once again as Tales of the Cocktail returns for its 16th year. This annual gathering that’s equal parts cocktail conference and family reunion will feature a spirited schedule of brand new seminars, tastings, competitions and networking events representing the latest our industry has to offer. We’ll also have special events planned to honor the tricentennial of our hometown being celebrated this year. Catch up with old friends, learn some new techniques and further your career at Tales of the Cocktail 2018.

All registered attendees with a NET ticket value of $150 or more in event tickets (after discounts, not including fees; excluding Spirited Dinners and Spirited Awards) linked to their RFID wristband have FREE access to all Tasting Rooms. If you wish to only visit Tasting Rooms and not purchase any specific event tickets, you can add an al a carte Tasting Room Access Wristband to your cart. EVERY individual guest must purchase at least $150 in Seminar and Event Tickets to receive Tasting Room Access. Purchasing more than $150 does not qualify you for additional wristbands.

We invite media of all types to apply for credentials. In 2018 we will approve on a rolling basis starting in April. Media benefits include access to seminars, tasting rooms and special events as well as access to key industry members and an interview lounge.

Internship Program

Every year we welcome a group of talented interns to join the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation team. But this isn’t your fetching-coffee kind of internship. Our interns play a crucial role in bringing Tales of the Cocktail to life. In return they get the experience needed to conquer the hospitality business with major spirits brands, restaurant groups, hotels and more.

Cocktail Apprentice Program®

The Cocktail Apprentice Program is an exclusive mentorship program for up-and-coming bartenders to learn alongside some of the biggest names in the business during the five days of Tales of the Cocktail. Since 2008, more than 350 apprentices have gained extensive experience working and managing large-scale, high-volume events while providing an invaluable service to Tales of the Cocktail and the industry as a whole. Tales of the Cocktail continues to support the growing fraternity of past apprentices by offering exclusive opportunities for scholarships and financial aid to further support their growth within the industry.

Founded in 2002, Tales of the Cocktail® has grown from an annual walking tour of historic New Orleans cocktail bars, into the world’s premier cocktail festival. Each year the international bar and spirits industry is welcomed to New Orleans for a week of seminars, tastings, networking and special events. With hundreds of opportunities developed specifically for bartenders, distillers and other bar and spirits professionals, Tales of the Cocktail is the industry’s annual meeting place for the exchanging of new ideas, products and techniques. Who Attends Tales of the Cocktail?

While many of our bar guests are welcome attendees, Tales of the Cocktail primarily focuses its education on all levels of the bartending trade. At Tales 2017, 51% of our attendees were returning guests while it was 49% of our attendee’s first time attending.

What is the cost to attend Tales of the Cocktail?

During the 6 days of the festival, Tales of the Cocktail hosts over 300 events. In order to build your own schedule, all tickets are sold individually. Access to the Tasting Rooms requires a Tasting Room Access Wristband, which comes with a minimum purchase of $150 on *event tickets*.

*’Event tickets’ include tickets for: Seminars, Happy Hour, the Cocktail Tour and Spirited Awards. This minimum does NOT include the purchase of Spirited Dinner tickets (reservations and payment are made directly with the restaurant).

How does Tales of the Cocktail Foundation handle rogue events?

To protect the integrity of Tales of the Cocktail, the experience for attendees, and the ability for Tales of the Cocktail Foundation (TOTCF) to deliver on our mission to support and advance the hospitality industry, “rogue events” are strictly forbidden.

Rogue events jeopardize Tales of the Cocktail in several ways. They undermine the value of properly organized sanctioned events. These events, including seminars and tasting rooms, are the reason our industry has come together in New Orleans en masse for sixteen years. They are hosted by brands and sponsors who invest in programming and receive additional value via their relationship with TOTCF. It is these sponsorships that allow for a business model which enables TOTCF to invest in the future of the industry through grantmaking programs. There is no need for an event to go “rogue”, and, when one does, our relationship with the Louisiana ATC is put at risk. Their support is critical to the success of Tales of the Cocktail.

The Leadership team at TOTCF and our Executive Director, Caroline Rosen, will make all efforts to work with brands, large and small, to properly vet and organize events, ensure compliance with ATC regulations, provide support if desired through listing on the TOTCF official schedule, and ensure their hosts are recognized for their meaningful contributions to funding our grant making programs and commitment to the importance of Tales of the Cocktail. About Dame Hall of Fame®

Dame Hall of Fame® is not your traditional awards ceremony. Conceived eight years ago as a way to acknowledge leaders and encourage mentorship, the Dame Hall of Fame® is a celebration of women in the beverage alcohol industry.

In Great Britain and other Commonwealth countries, Dame is an honorific title, the feminine form of the address of knighthood, officially introduced as its equivalent in 1917. Female knights existed for centuries in many parts of the world long before this; much like the female bartenders, bar owners, distillers, and marketers of yesteryear, their stories are rarely told.

To us, a Dame is a classy, accomplished woman whose story deserves to be told and toasted, the type one can only dream of hiring.
