Ann Tuennerman

Founder of Tales of the Cocktail®

Tales of the Cocktail®® is what happens when a passion for well-crafted cocktails and the city of New Orleans meet a relentless entrepreneurial spirit. That is Ann Tuennerman. What started as a celebration of the cocktail tour Ann founded, has grown into the industry’s premier non-profit trade event, bringing tens of thousands of cocktail experts and enthusiasts to New Orleans each summer.

As founder and executive director of Tales of the Cocktail®, Ann provides the vision and strategic direction for each year’s events, working directly with bartenders, spirits brands and media outlets to bring them to life. In 2011, Ann took Tales of the Cocktail® global with the creation of Tales of the Cocktail® on Tour, a mini-festival held annually in emerging cocktail cities around the world. Most recently, Ann and the Tales of the Cocktail® team created Tales 365, a membership service designed specially for bartenders and spirits professionals that gives them exclusive, year-round access to Tales content, distillery tours, networking events and more.

To expand Tales of the Cocktail’s support of the international cocktail industry, Ann and her husband Paul founded the New Orleans Culinary & Cultural Preservation Society (NOCCPS) in 2006. The NOCCPS invests funds raised from Tales of the Cocktail® events back into the international cocktail industry through apprenticeships, grants, scholarship programs and more. Since it’s founding, the NOCCPS has funded more than a half million dollars in special programs to support a number of programs for bartenders and members of the hospitality industry.

All this work cultivating and promoting the spirits industry has made Ann a go-to authority on cocktails and the business behind them. She is regularly called upon to be a source for national and international publications. Her work has also garnered her a number of local, national and international awards including recently being named by Cheers as one of the top 10 most influential people of the past 25 years. Ann has also been featured in MORE magazine, was one of the first inductees into the United States chapter of the Ordre Internationale des Anysetiers and has received BNIC Cognac Personality of the Year Award and the prestigious D’USSE Cognac Tom Bullock Award for Service and Leadership from DC Toasts.

When Ann isn’t spending time coordinating each year’s events and special programs, she spends time with Paul and the unofficial Tales of the Cocktail® mascot, Delta Dawg.
