Personalities

Eric Seed

Eric Seed is Principal and Owner of Haus Alpenz, a Minneapolis-based purveyor of specialty spirits and wines. Serving the needs and interests of fine dining and bar professionals, Haus Alpenz imports and markets libations ranging from classic cocktail ingredients (Crème de Violette, Allspice Dram, Velvet Falernum, Dolin Vermouth, Old Tom Gin) to alpine traditions (Alpine Eaux-de-Vie, Stone Pine Liqueur), and unusual wines (Sparkling Grüner Veltliner).

Mr. Seed started Haus Alpenz in 2005 on guidance from sommeliers and bar specialists who identified unmet niche needs for more distinctive and authentic spirits. As a lifelong amateur cook and food adventurer traveler, Mr. Seed enjoys working with his customers to further their efforts to serve the curious and adventurous palate. A graduate of Kenyon College and the University of Chicago, Mr. Seed had previously worked in business strategy and development, marketing and financial analysis.

No stranger to New Orleans, Mr. Seed's first local speaking engagement followed an article he wrote in 1996 for the Nuveen Quarterly, "What's Eating Jefferson Parish?", a review of the social and economic consequences of the nutria's appetite for gardens and levees.
