Hollywood Cocktails: Louisiana Style

Lights! Camera! Action! It’s Hollywood Cajun-style. Louisiana has been the setting and location for hundreds of motion pictures through the years including classics and favorites such as A Streetcar Named Desire, Jezebel, King Creole, Easy Rider, Interview with a Vampire, Live and Let Die, and Sex, Lies, and Video Tape to name a few.

Some Movie Stars who have made Louisiana-based films include Paul Newman, Bette Davis, John Wayne, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, John Travolta, Bob Hope, Elvis Presley, Henry Fonda, Jimmy Stewart, Marlon Brando, and Vivian Leigh.

Come join this movie buff event lead by four film & drink experts; Ted Haigh, William T. Garver, Cheryl Charming, and the author of, New Orleans Goes to the Movies, Alan Leonhard.

Cocktails made with Louisiana spirits will be served.

William T. Garver William T. Garver Soused cinema enthusiast William T. Garver, a.k.a. garv, has shared his knowledge of cocktail-related film since 2006 through feature articles in Modern Drunkard Magazine. He is also the creator of Booze Movies: The 100 Proof Film Guide (http://www.boozemovies.com), a popular movie review website that explores the role alcohol has played in motion pictures from the silent era to the present day. His goal is that his readers will find the world of film more intoxicating than they ever imagined. Garv's website has been recommended or cited in several print and online publications including The New York Times, The Sacramento Bee, and The San Diego Reader.

Ted Haigh Ted Haigh aka Dr. Cocktail Ted http://www.www.cocktailDB.com moonlights as a graphic designer for Hollywood films, writes on subjects pertaining to spirits, cocktails, and their histories, and collects drink seen in film. Ted is also the Curator of The Museum of the American Cocktail.

Cheryl Charming Cheryl Charming aka Miss Charming from http://www.www.misscharming.com has been collecting drink seen in film since she first started tending bar. She is the annual Cocktail Film Fest host held in New Orleans each spring and maintains the Cocktail Cinema Facebook group. Each year at Tales of the Cocktail she is somehow involved in an event related to cocktails and film.

Alan Leonhard Author of the book, New Orleans Goes to the Movies and native of New Orleans, has been a movie buff all of his adult life. He is a retired professor of political science at the University of New Orleans, holds undergraduate degrees from Tulane University and a PhD from Duke University. He and his wife Ann are tour guides in New Orleans, and Alan lectures frequently on local historical topics.
