Once one of the most prominent spirits on the continent, apple brandy sated the thirst for strong drink of generations of early Americans. Today apple brandy is a regular fixture in craft-cocktail bars, with mainstay brands increasingly joined by small-batch brandies from distilleries across the country. This session will look at the history of applejack, apple brandy and related cocktails; explore the unique identity of American apple brandy as it relates to its European cousins; and will touch on the ways creative bartenders are using its inimitable flavor in excellent cocktails.
